Frequently Asked Questions

How are Q-Switched lasers different to other lasers?

Q-Switched Lasers produce a short high pulse of high energy light, to successfully remove pigment from the skin. This energy is absorbed by the tattoo particles of colour and not the surrounding skin. The pigment particles are broken down into smaller particles and targeted by the body’s immune system to remove them.

Can a tattoo be removed in just one treatment?

Very Rarely! Some amateur tattoos may disappear, but a professional tattoo will take a higher number.

How many treatments will be required?

Each and every tattoo is different, each and every body is different. The health of the skin and immune system also effects this, (ask about our skin and well being supplements) but on average between 4-6 treatments should give a great result.

Does it hurt?

Again depending on location, size and your threshold. Some describe it as uncomfortable some, like an elastic band being flicked on the skin.

How much will it cost?

Prices depend on size, age and quality of ink used in the tattoo; therefore we can only quote at a consultation. However prices start at £40.

Patch test and the Law

By law a full consultation and patch test must be carried out prior to undergoing full treatments.

How long does it take?

Depending on size between 5 mins and one hour.

Is there scarring and side effects?

The Q-Switch laser does not heat up surrounding tissue  thus reducing the scarring however the area may blister; this is normal and will resolve in a few days. Treatment’s are repeated  every 6 weeks.

Pre and post care

30 Day rule no sun on area for before and after treatment. The use of good sun protection is advisable.

Most activities can be resumed immediately however bathing, swimming, sauna’s Jacuzzis and sun(beds) should be avoided until healed. It is normal for skin to blister do not pick, leave to heal naturally.

Failing may lead to  infection and scarring. Special care must be taken when showering use mild skin wash, do not scrub area and only pat dry.
